Original compositions for six strings and eight

Colorado-based guitarist Ethan Lorentz is a performer, composer, music educator, and scholar who has received acclaim as both a soloist, and a chamber musician. Ethan has a passion for expanding the guitar’s possibilities through performing new works and creating exciting new arrangements. These interests are evident on both of Ethan’s albums, “Gallery” and “Schubert Lieder on Guitar”. The former is an album of guitar/flute duos inspired by 20th and 21st century artworks (featuring multiple new commissions) performed by the Lorentz/Lopez duo, and the latter project features a new set of Schubert arrangements for solo guitar. Ethan performed these arrangements in a lecture recital for the Guitar Foundation of America’s annual convention, where he has also lectured on the music of Leo Brouwer for the Symposium of Guitar Scholars. Ethan regularly performs as a soloist, with the Lorentz/Lopez duo, and has performed with several other ensembles, including the Aspen Music Festival Orchestra, the Boulder Chamber Choral, and the Nebula Ensemble.
The program featured works by Dowland, Bach, Schubert, Scarlatti, Ponce, and Ethan’s own original compositions and arrangements on both 6 and 8 string guitars:
